The young Louis:

Louis Pasteur was born 12/27/1822 in France with his family and died 9/28/1895. He was a great scientist, but did you know he was also a great artist? He had a bachelor of art degree. He had a lot of friends at school, especially one boy named Henry.And now, all over the world, you can see in all the capitals of most countries a Pasteur institute.

Goodbye Henry:

Pasteur’s story started when Henry, his best friend died after having been bitten by a mad dog. The young Louis was devastated. He first felt sad, he was angry against the dog, against life …and he secretly promised that one day he would take revenge for his friend…. It was obvious: He was the one who will defeat rabies forever !

Long path :

Louis Pasteur’s studies were really difficult ; he was always trying to do his best to cure people from the disease that killed his friend. Everytime he thought that he finally found the solution, something happened and he figured he was wrong. And moreover, he was making other types of researches like the one on Penicillin. And he had a lot of pression.

Another Henry:

One day, a woman arrived crying with her son. She was begging Pasteur to cure her poor little baby. Louis was annoyed : he never tried his vaccination on humans before. But the woman was crying and he noticed that the young boy looked like Henry and had the same age. His name was Joseph Meister. So Pasteur accepted.

Anti rabies’ impact:

In the past, if you were bitten by an animal, you were sentenced to a certain death. So you just had to say goodbye to all your relatives and people you love. And nowadays, if someone is bitten by a dog or a wild animal, they just have to get an injection in a hospital and after a while, forget about it all🙂. That is how Pasteur saves lives until now.

Finally:

To conclude, the experience was a full success. Joseph was the first cured and vaccinated human against rabies. The boy felt better and Pasteur kept his promise. And nowadays, if someone is bitten by a dog or a wild animal, they just have to get an injection in a hospital
